Recently, President Hao Fang, a Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), led a delegation to visit leading universities and research institutions in Austria, Germany, and France. The delegation aimed to gain in-depth insights into the latest developments in European higher education, forge new frameworks for international cooperation in talent cultivation and scientific research, and conduct strategic dialogues on cutting-edge energy technologies and high-caliber talent development.
During the visit, the delegation convened high-level meetings with several universities and research institutions, including Université Paris Cité, Paris Sciences & Lettres-PSL University (PSL), École Centrale de Lille (EC Lille), Technische Universität Clausthal (TU Clausthal), Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB), Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, and Montanuniversität Leoben (MUL). Discussions delved into key topics including traditional energy transition, breakthroughs in new energy, and interdisciplinary integration in cutting-edge fields. A series of consensuses were reached on establishing joint research platforms and advancing collaborative talent development in fields such as geological energy,new energy, and mechanical and precision measurement. Memoranda of cooperation were signed with several institutions. During their visit in France, the delegation made a special trip to the Chinese Embassy in France, where they conducted fruitful exchanges with Minister-Counselor Zhou Jiagui on deepening Sino-French cooperation in education and science and technology.
This visit has successfully expanded and consolidated UPC’s strategic partnership network with Europe. Seizing this opportunity, UPC will systematically advance the implementation and deepening of all collaborative cinsensuses, transforming the outcomes of this visit into new momentum for enhancing discipline development, scientific innovation capabilities, and talent cultivation quality.
