Recently, the 2025 graduation ceremony of Kazan Federal University was held in Kazan,Russia. Four graduate students from School of Geosciences were awarded master's degrees from Kazan Federal University. This is the first time of our graduate students obtained master's degrees from the other university based on a school level agreement. In addition to completing their courses studying, the four students worked hardly to study Russian language and culture and participated in the BRICS Forum held in Russia.
In 2019, China University of Petroleum and Kazan Federal University established the cooperative relationship and signed the MOU. With the support of the China Scholarship Council, tens of students were sent to Kazan Federal University since 2020. In 2023, with the efforts of two universities, a double master degree program in Geosciences was signed to expand the cooperation. According to the agreement, the graduate students will register and complete their first year of study at China University of Petroleum (East China). In the second year, the selected graduates will register and undergo one-year study at Kazan Federal University. Once satisfying the requirements and passing the thesis defense of Kazan Federal University, they will be awarded a master's degree from Kazan Federal University. In the third year, graduate students will return to UPC to continue their studies, research, and thesis writing in accordance with the regulations of China University of Petroleum (East China).
Established on November 5, 1804, KFU is Russia's third-oldest university after Moscow State University and Saint Petersburg State University. KFU was ranked 322nd in QS World University Rankings 2025, and consistently placed among Russia's top 10 universities. Notable Alumni include Lenin (Soviet leader), Leo Tolstoy (author), and Nikolai Lobachevsky (mathematician).
