From Jul 1st to Jul 4th, professor Hasan Arman and Associate professor Osman Abdelghany from department of Geosciences, United Arab Emirates University visited our campus and complete two classes Environmental Geosciences and stratigraphy. The course Environmental Geosciences deals with the principles of environmental geology as an integral part of the students’ curriculum. Its topics include introduction to natural hazards, type of natural hazards, water resources and water pollution, mineral and energy resources, soils and environment, air pollution, global climate change, geology, society and the future. Stratigraphy is the study of all rock strata, and their organization into mappable units based on their properties. Its topics include Principles of Stratigraphy, Stratigraphic contacts and cyclic sedimentation, sedimentary facies, succession law of facies and their applications, stratigraphic units, Isochronous, diachronous, dispersal of marine organisms, dating and correlation, etc. Totally, around 30 graduates chosen this course and passed the final test.
During their visit to the deep oil key state laboratory and history museum of UPC, two professors gave a high appraisal on the advanced instruments and the elaborate design of our history museum. This visit is the first time of professors from UAEU to UPC. Both two universities are willing to expand the cooperation on scientific research and student exchanging program. Now, two universities are working on the sign of the MOU and hope that there will be more cooperation in the near future.

International Education Courses of Postgraduates is a program sponsored by the Graduate School of the university to attract famous professors and specialists from overseas to give lectures on basic or advanced theories of sciences and technology to postgraduates. Through the learning and exchanging to foreign lecturers, Graduates’ International perspectives will broaden and their international communication skills will be enhanced. After the class, the participated students can also get the corresponding credits according to the UPC’s rules. This program has been held continuously for 6 sessions since 2020.
